Give a Plain Bath Mat a Gratifying Boost With a Personal Touch

Bathmats are not normally a featured item in a bathroom, but if you jazz one up, yours could become one. For this to work, a colourful, square or rectangular mat is the best choice, along with one that has an interior receding border. With this idea you can take a rather uninspired mat into something you will look forward to putting your pretty little toes on.

Get a ribbon that coordinates well with the mat and attach it with fabric glue as you go along, with the exception of the first corner that you start this project on. At the other corners, fold the ribbon back on itself and proceed to line the mat with the ribbon and glue. At the end corner, cover the starting point with the last of the ribbon and tuck it under the starting edge. Now you can glue the end piece to the starting one, and the starting piece to the rug.

As a last act of precaution, if you can, sew it down too, so it will last a long time. Over time the glue alone may not withstand numerous machine washes. This additional measure should keep the ribbon down well.
